1 Rene Mure Alsace Grand Cru Clos St Landelin Riesling (2010)
Comments: Earthy on the nose with dried apple fruit and lightly leafy green tea and chamomile notes. Medium- to full-bodied with nice weight on the palate, underpinned by lively if integrated acidity. This feels nicely fresh. The acidity adds a crispness to the fruit here, all apple-toned with hints of dried orange peel and apricot adding some detail. That acid pops a bit on the finish, showing off more lemony and slightly tropical citrus fruit notes on the moderately long finish. Not complex or elegant but awfully enjoyable. 90pts

2 Gobelsburger Kamptal Riesling (2011)
Comments: This is lightly nutty and stony on the nose with some very fine floral and herbal aromas that recall tarragon, chamomile and wild arugula. Very finely textured in the mouth and fairly weightless and transparent, this delivers glassy fruit along with a light mineral wash across the palate. The citrus flavors alternate between lemon/lime and something closer to tangelo/grapefruit right through the long and refreshing finish. Refreshing and zesty if a bit of a one trick pony. 89pts

3 Hugel et Fils Riesling Alsace Aoc Tradition (2005)
Comments: This is quite perfumed with an early blast of white pepper on the nose followed by layers of floral, honeyed and exotic fruit notes that show hints of guava and lychee. Exhibiting lovely balance in the mouth, this seems light and bright on entry before the richness of fruit makes itself known on the mid-palate. Lovely depth of flavor with a hint of coconut milk accents the under-ripe apricot fruit of the mid-palate. More spicy flavors return on the moderately long finish. There’s a nice edge of sweetness here though this is quite dry. 92pts

4 Freie Weingärtner Wachau Domäne Wachau Riesling Durnstein Federspiel Terrassen (2011)
Comments: Very aromatic, with a lovely array of fresh citrus fruit, earthy apples, and floral and spice aromas over a fine base of dusty minerals. This is a touch spicy in the mouth with a white peppery accent to the herb-inflected ripe apple and lime pith fruit. There's also a mineral edge here that adds nice cut to the mid-palate, which gains weight in the mouth turning fairly powerful and rich, if remaining dry. The back end shows a slight licorice note that tops the modest green apple and peach-toned finish. Firm, well balanced and complex, this lacks a little verve in the mouth and shows a touch of heaviness. 87pts

5 Prinz Von Hessen H Riesling Germany (2011)
Comments: Intense and focused pear, peach and floral aromas greet the nose along with a faint underlay of machine oil and stems. This is easy going in the mouth, well balanced and fresh with a whisper of sweetness adding some weight around a core of tart pear, peach and almost coconut-like flavors. The back end turns a bit fruitier and yields to a bright lemony finish. This is a touch simple, but fun and easy going. 86pts
