1 St. Michael Eppan Sanct Valentin Sauvignon Blanc (2009)
Comments: Cut grass and floral on the nose with lots of chili aromas, a hint of smoke, almost flinty minerality and rich yellow fruit. On entry this offers up intense fruit, bright and faceted in the mouth with layers of flavor, a hint of smoke, smoky chile, gooseberry, and a faint suggestion of green peas shoots. The long finish shows excellent freshness and clarity a little lemon zest, lots of white pepper and a hint of tannin. 93pts

2 Colterenzio Schreckbichl Sauvignon Blanc Alto Adige Sudtirol Lafoa (2010)
Comments: Lime and sweet herbal notes on the nose are joined by toast nutty base notes. This is broad, in the mouth with lots of lime on the palate. Rich and powerful this offers up good acidity which does not overwhelm the wine’s lovely sweetness to the orchard fruit, golden raspberry, and melon flavors which features a hint of coconut, and a shadow of gooseberries The finish shows off a creamy lime note with good length. This is a powerful Sauvignon Blanc with fine persistence of fruit. 92pts

3 Lieben Aich IGT (2010)
Comments: Pineapple and dusty mineral fruit bursts from the glass over lots of fresh green herbal notes. This is ripe but tense and nervous in the mouth with a taut muscular feel, like a gymnast. Haunting flavors of pineapple fruit in the mouth relays the ripeness here but this is light and fresh as a daisy in the with a long, elegant and juicy finish. 92pts

4 Andrius Sauvignon Blanc Alto Adige DOC Kellerei Andrian (2010)
Comments: Fairly floral on the nose with a bit of talc over green plum skin and light kiwi fruit topped with fresh cut grass. This is quite fruit driven, melony and moderately rich but still nicely bright with good acidic cut and a bit of peppery herbs offering contrast to the fruit. The big finish shows a touch of powdery astringency followed by plenty of bay leaf inflected ripe orchard fruit and a bit of unripe white peach. This is fairly powerful and complex. 90pts

5 Sauvignon DOC Premstaller (2011)
Comments: This has a great nose full of ripe fruit with a hint of herbs and very Sancerre like, though there is a bit too much SO2. Opulent in the mouth, powerful yet not fruity, this offers up a little dusty minerality and good acidity supporting brisk citrus and green fruits. The mineral finish, lacks a touch of depth, and over all this shows a very ripe texture but rather lean on the palate with gentle grapefruit notes. 88pts
