2. Colterenzio Schreckbichl Pinot Nero St. Daniel (2009)
Smoky oak, tea, earth, and red currant fruit all come together on the very deep nose. On entry this is rather elegant and transparent with wonderful purity to the sapid red currant and lingonberry fruit. This has a delightful combination of density without weight. Air brings out a very fine hint of wood here, adding a light toastiness, and some nutty elements to the palate. Big wild cherry fruit pops on the backend giving way to a long, plump finish rich with pure Pinot fruit and an edge of watermelon. 92pts
