1 Castelfeder Pinot Grigio "15" (2011)
Comments: Rich and a bit of woodsy at first then turning sweet and lightly floral on the nose with hints of pineapple and honeycomb. Wow, if this isn’t rich and elegant in the mouth, it really flows softly across the palate with flavors that are very fresh and pure orchard fruit toned, though this seems like it has a touch of sweetness though a lovely hint of bitterness and edgy mineral note provide nice contrast. This could use a bit more acidity though if you prefer a creamy textured wine creamy texture you’re gonna love this. 92pts

2 Erste & Neue Pinot Grigio (2011)
Comments: Very pure and precise on the nose with gentle floral tone cut by decisive mineral notes and framed within slightly dried orchard fruit tones. Light and elegant on the palate with wonderful clarity and freshness in the mouth. This delivers very elegant citrus pith, lime peel and green pear flavors in tight, mineral wrapped package. The finish is long and very fine with real succulence and a subtle savory complexity. This is delicious. 91pts

3 Pinot Grigio DOC Söll (2010)
Comments: Waxy on the nose and a little spicy with white pepper accenting golden apple fruit. On entry this is opulent and rich with a little viscosity obvious here. This is quite ripe but fresh with lots of weighty heirloom apple fruit and good minerality on the backend and through the rather long finish, super intense finish which shows some fine powdery tannins are really impressive power. 91pts

4 St Michael Eppan Pinot Grigio Sanct Valentin Alto Adige (2010)
Comments: Smoky oak on the nose adds nutty, bacon like aromas to the dried fruit here. Big and broad on the palate yet this remains quite transparent with rich fruit flavors framed by suggestions of smoke and honeycomb. A very light buttery edge on the backend leads to a tight, slightly tannic finish that shows a slight classic bitterness. This is a Chardonnay lovers Pinot Grigio and a very good one at that, I am a little reluctant to admit liking this as much as I do! 91pts

5 Tiefenbrunner Pinot Grigio Venezie (2011)
Comments: Intensely aromatic with some underlying neutral oak character, spicy top notes, and a rush of apricot, and pear fruit On entry this is a bit soft but still bright with mineral and nicely measured oak flavors emerging from under the apricot and of apple fruit. This is a pretty sophisticated style of Pinot Grigio, nice and tense on the exceptionally long finish with a piercing apricot skin note lingering through the finale. 91pts

6 Tramin Pinot Grigio Unterebner (2011)
Comments: Lovely depth on the nose with hint of mineral, some soft white mushroom notes and a bit of chalk. On entry this is a powerful wine, rich and flannely with a crisp mineral base note. The mid-palate reveals green, sappy, sweet and sour apple fruit, in a style that resembles a nervy pinot Gris as opposed to what one might typically expect from a bottle labeled as Pinot Grigio. 90pts

7 Terlan Pinot Grigio Alto Adige (2011)
Comments: Sweet pear aromas on the nose are joined by hints of coconut, hazelnut, and quartz minerality. This is zesty in the mouth with nice fresh pear fruit with a hint of baked apple pie. Turning a touch loose on the palate, this retains a nice mineral base and hint of spice on the back end, finishing a touch on the short side with an earthy, almost herbal/stemmy edge and a hint of bitter almond on the finale, with a nice dash of mouthwatering salinity. 89pts
