1 Tiefenbrunner Alto Adige Turmhof Anna Pinot Bianco (2011)
Comments: Leesy on the nose then turning quite mineral and dusty with dried citrus pith and white flower pollen top notes. Bright acids greet the mouth and early on this is like licking a rock! Tense with just enough flesh covering the mineral acid, this offers up very clear and precise apple fruit over a huge base of minerality with ever so slight accents of something herbal or vegetal adding complexity. This is elegant, and really lovely with a long, succulent and clean finish. 93pts

2 Castelfeder Pinot Bianco Tecum (2010)
Comments: A little cheesy on the nose with lots of leesy floral notes and dusty soil aromas over pear fruits. Very fine and tense in the mouth with crystal clear fruit that is bright and lively with nice cut, refreshing and tense on the long, precise, finish which shows a hint of saltiness. This is a pear and mineral two-step with underlying complexity from extended lees contact and the added richness that has provided. I bet this gets better with time and so does the winery. Bottled exclusively in magnums, 28 Euro at the cellar door. 92pts

3 Tramin Pinot Bianco DOC (2011)
Comments: Huge apple blossom and light pollen notes greet the nose. In the mouth this is kind of dense and chewy with a nice hit of dry extract on the palate. Powerfully rich yet well delineated, this offers up layered intensely mineral apple flavors with a late arriving touch of bitter melon. The moderately long finish on the other hand is totally salty seashell notes. Lots going on here. 91pts

4 Caldaro Pinot Bianco Vial (2011)
Comments: Smells white and floral with hints of melon, citrus pith, and pear skin. Light and super elegant on entry this is clear and fresh with a hint of dusty minerality, lots of citrus and pith notes, a hint of roundness and a suggestion of creaminess. A nicely balanced example of Pinot Grigio, I could drink this all day. The succulent finish is full of river stones and really lovely melon and pear fruit. 90pts

5 Manincor Pinot Bianco Eichorn (2011)
Comments: A little leesy on the nose with pressed flower aroma atop a fine base of green plum and heirloom apple fruit all set off by a little flinty note. This is round, juicy, and firm in the mouth, a rather structured Pinot Bianco. The low fruit is subtle yet quite clear and tense with a hint of apple butter and light citrus pith elements that come together in a bright and really finely focused package. This is just a bit on the subtle side, but for rock heads, there’s tons of fine minerality. Refreshing and elegant. 90pts

6 Terlan Pinot Bianco Classico (2011)
Comments: A bit heathery on the nose with stony white fruit recalling white peach and melon and a gently flinty top note. On entry this shows bright acids and a nice early streak of sweet apple fruit While kind of light bodied in the mouth, this has lovely depth with super precise and fresh fruit, and laser like focus right through the strict salty mineral note on the long finish. 89pts
