1 Amity Vineyards Riesling Willamette Valley Dry (2008)
Comments: What a difference a year or more can make. This has matured exceptionally well. Kind of wild nose full of nuanced diesel, candlewax, pineapple, apple stem, and herb notes with hints of stones and heavy floral overtones. This is dry and taut on entry with fine acid that is gently covered by the light fleshiness of ripe fruit. Lovely peach, lemon and pineapple flavors in the mouth are balanced by a touch of mineral tension and a light bittersweet tone reminiscent of baking apple skins. The bittersweet sensation continues on the moderately long finish yielding to a nice river stone note and ending with lemon citrus flavors. Damn this is good, it’s dry but well fruited and complex with signs of maturity over that fruit. The finish gains fine length with air. Looks like a winery exclusive, $20 and totally worth it! 92pts

2 Long Shadows Wineries Riesling Columbia Valley Poet's Leap (2009)
Comments: This is nicely mineral on the nose with sweet backing tones of ripe pear and dried apple fruit. Showing a touch of sugar in it’s roundness, though coming across as fairly dry due to the firma acids here, this is balanced and rich if not terrible large scaled. The fruit flavors, heirloom orchard fruits with a wash or orange marmalade and some attractive spice tones show excellent depth. There’s a nice mineral element on the back end here that adds tension. The orangy tones brighten with some air and lend an orange blossom top note to the inner mouth perfumes. The finish gains a touch of green plum on the moderate long slightly peppery finish. This really grows on my with it’s subtlety. 91pts

4 Solstice Vineyard Riesling (2008)
Comments: Nicely floral with hints of lemon verbena accenting the citrus fruit with everything bound together with a lovely, light honey aroma. Light and fresh on entry with a really waif like structure. This is lightweight and transparent with nuanced floral, heirloom apple and lightly honied flavors. Very easy to drink and while not soft is does dance across the palate. The finish shows very good intensity and fine persistence of flavor. This is neither particularly sweet, nor fruity and would show exceptionally well with food. 89pts

8 Lamoreaux Landing Riesling Finger Lakes Semi-Dry (2010)
Comments: Lovely light hand here with floral notes and granite mineral spice tones greeting the nose. There’s some sweet, peachy fruit here along with a faint touch of red fruit. Noticeably sweet in the mouth though held together well with nice, tense acids. The fruit has an edge of bitter apple to it adding to the tension in the mouth. Really lovely mouthfeel, a bit round from the sugar but nervous as well with fine apple and light peach fruit tones that are rich and precise and drive out over the moderately long finish. The finish shows some subtle mineral and woodsy/stemmy tones before the sugar reapplies the fruit. Lovely effort. 88pts
