Based in North Carolina, I'm a wine instructor at The Chef's Academy and owner of The Clever Vine, a wine consulting and education service. I hold the WSET Diploma and have a strong background in French wine, with a special interest in the Loire Valley.

The Lovely Loire Valley

I absolutely love the Loire Valley in France. There, you can find wines that are white, red, rose, sparkling, sweet - there is such diversity. Grapes grown range from Melon de Bourgogne, Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, and others. I find myself constantly drawn to these options on wine lists and at wine shops. This list will serve to report what I've tasted recently and enjoyed. Cheers!

Incredible concentration of fruit - apricot, peach, apple, and citrus. Tiny, soft bubbles offer a slight lift, but there's plenty of acidity in this wine, too. I've loved previous vintages of this bottle of sparkling, too, and 2007 was just as compelling.
