The Côte de Nuits In Your Glass(es)

Rank Wine Rating Price
1 Collotte Marsannay Vieilles Vignes (2009)
Comments: Dense and layered nose: forest floor, boysenberry and super-ripe black plum. Chunky tannins, marked acidity and lingering finish.
List It
2 Domaine Pierre Gelin Fixin Grand Vin de Bourgogne (2009)
Comments: Blackberry and mulberry flavors bump against roasted wild boar accented with lavender. Medium-bodied, the tannins are strapping and the acidity is boisterous.
Previously available for $38.19
List It
3 Domaine Denis Bachelet Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Cl (2007)
Comments: Quintessential. Black cherry, mushroom and tobacco leaf with coca inflections. The tannins are suave, the acidity is vivacious and the texture is succulent.
Previously available for $1324.75
List It
4 Domaine Forey Pere et Fils Morey St -Denis (2008)
Comments: Mineral, gamey, intense, focused…everything that embodies Morey.
Previously available for $37.99
List It
5 Domaine Dujac Morey-St-Denis Monts-Luisants Blanc Premier Cru (2008)
Comments: My favorite, and rare, Morey Blanc. Dujac also makes a village level wine, but splurge for the Premier Cru. It’s a mid-weight Chardonnay replete with pit fruits, grapefruit pith, tarragon and generous minerality delicately balanced with new oak.
List It
6 Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat Vougeot Chambolle Musigny (2008)
Comments: Impressively pure aromas of morello cherry and lingonberry delight the nose. The restrained core offers supple tannins and mid-palate creaminess while finishing moderately long.
List It
7 Domaine René Engel Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru (2004)
Comments: Tobacco and crushed leaves accompany forest fruits and mushroom and lead to a long finish. Compact and palate-coating, the fine tannin and bouyant acidity keep this muscular and weighty wine bright.
List It
8 Domaine Michel Gros Vosne-Romanée (2008)
Comments: Raspberry, roses and licorice prevail. Finely integrated, high acidity is accompanied by succulent tannins and a fairly long finish.
Previously available for $104.99
List It
9 Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits St. Georges (2006)
Comments: Massively earthy and lightly rustic with iron undertones, this is textbook Nuits-St-Georges. For a village wine, this offers impressive balance and the first hints of maturity.
Previously available for $59.99
