1 Salton Red Blend Tuiuty Talento (2007)
Comments: Cs, m, t, 60/30/10 Deep nose, a bit more new world than the rest of the lineup here, big fruit, black berries, bramble, woodsy tone, herbs, licorice, black spice, dark, crushed flower petals, oily herbs, Round and full in the mouth, big acids but balanced lovey clarity here, a bit of a fruit bowl of berries but fresh and crisp with a wonderful woodsy background, a little rosemary and sage, a hint of pine nuts, soft but present tannins, Sapid finish with zesty wild cherry and raspberry tones, a bit of elegance as well. This needs food but is very good, with a lovely pink peppercorn spice on the finish. 91pts

Comments: Coffee bean, black plum, deep, carob, herbal, black raspberry, clear and fresh with lovely herbal and floral, almost iris base notes, rich on entry, soft, a bit more dried fruit character than with the Volpi, very broad on the palate, though remaining transparent, this has really vivid coffee, chocolate and carob accents over the core of plummy, slightly pruny fruit, finishes with a dusting of wood tannin adding a little mouth grab and lingering boysenberry fruit, quite bordelaise, black cherry works it's way into the backend, the finish shows a lovely set of almost stemmy notes adding complexity and a little chewy black cherry skin. 89pts

4 Vinicola Salton Classic Reserva Especial Cabernet Franc (2011)
Comments: Heavy, clumsy use of wood or extraction shows up on the dull earthy nose that shows a little tobacco and carob, though this does open nicely with some tomato leaf and herb. Classically medium bodied in the mouth with vivid acidity, clear as a bell on the palate with red fruit, currant and raspberry edged with a hint of green tomato and fine leafy tannins. Those tannins linger on the palate, just a touch rustic, but lending an earthy and deep character to the wine which finishes with excellent length. 87pts

7 Salton Virtude Chardonnay (2011)
Comments: From Campahna near Uruguay, barrel fermented and six months in oak Tight, floral, with smoky ham like notes on the nose accenting melon with a hint of papaya. On the palate this is elegant with a leading edge of lemon spritzed melon fruit, round and soft, nicely citrusy inner mouth perfumes and a soft, elegant finish. 9 Salton Pinot Noir Volpi (2011)
Comments: Six months in oak Tea scented and a bit funky on the nose with some sweetness to the vanilla dusted core of red currant, pomegranate and lightly mango toned fruit. This is soft and fruity, plenty of refreshing acidity balanced by a round, slight rs driven simple and pure raspberry/ cherry midpalate. There is a slightly tropical edge more guava than mango to the raspberry fruit on the palate, which seems to be the house style, possibly from yeast selection. With soft tannins and fruit is a little bubble gum like on the backend this is popularly styled though this does firms up on the finish where it shows some forest floor and incipient mushroom notes. 86pts

10 Salton Chardonnay Volpi (2011)
Comments: 20% in oak for six months This shows a fine almond wood spiced edge to the low intensity nose. On the palate high acidity lends this fine focus, yielding a lightly mineral, clean, crisp cut fruit, very Chablis like feel, though the little yellow fruit a hint of banana here accenting the yellow fruits lends it a new world appeal. The acid does cut like a knife though. 86pts

15 Salton Gamay (2012)

High acid and lean in the mouth with fruity and fresh flavors makes this drink a bit like a rose with strawberry fruit, super fine tannins. This is very low key but very Gamay, a zesty wine that is very refreshing, but needs a bit more flesh, only the second vintage, a wine to watch. 83pts
