10 Kendall-Jackson Riesling Vintners Reserve (2011)
Comments: Fruity apple and lemon aromas greet the nose along with hints of sweet flowers and honeycomb. This is fairly low acid, particularly for a Riesling, so think soft and broad in the mouth with slightly creamy caramel-tinged apple fruit and some candied cherry notes on the mid-palate followed by ripe, sweet pear fruit. The finish is modest and a touch coarse with a hint of bitterness. Simple, fruity and somewhat atypical for Riesling. 82pts

15 Marqués de Cáceres Rosé Blend Rioja Rosado (2011)
Comments: Very fruity on the nose with notes of watermelon, strawberry and raspberry fruit, framed with a hint of cream. Soft and a bit chewy in the mouth, this is a fairly substantial rosé with chewy red fruits that lean toward the wild/black cherry end of the spectrum, flecked with spice and leathery nuances on the back end and through the modest, zesty finish. Plenty of acidity here and a nice hint of tannin helps cleanse the palate. 86pts

19 Bogle Essential Red (2011)
Comments: An unspecified blend of Zinfandel, Syrah, cabernet Sauvignon, and Petite Sirah Noticeably oaky on the nose with some notes of smoky bacon and lots of cedary spice over lightly pepper berry fruit. Noticeably sweet on entry, though not terribly heavy due to the relatively high acids here. There’s a fairly strong mocha note early on the palate that is followed by jammy blackberry and black cherry fruit. tannins are modest. Smooth, soft and supple with just a hint of wood tannins helping to dry out the slightly sticky, sweet finish. 83pts

20 Quinto Do Aveleda Follies Touriga Nacional Beiras (2010)
Comments: Thirty four hectares in a single block aged in barrique, 25% of which are new. Very smoky on the nose, almost roasting meats over a bed of tarry, dark fruits, showing a little raisin and date along with sage and rosemary notes touched with violets. Bright acids and fine tannins are well integrated in the mouth allowing this to show a nice softness with lovely balsamic notes appearing early on the palate followed by fine cut plum and tart wild strawberry jam flavors. This shows nice small yet angular tannins and has a long, slightly austere finish full of clear blue fruits. Medium bodied buy this drink some and cellar the rest for the next several years Already delicious I bet this will be even better in a year or two. 89pts

21 Pewsey Vale Dry Riesling Eden Valley (2012)
Comments: Quite perfumed on the nose, with aromas of apple blossoms, dry tree bark, quince and limes. While painfully young, this shows great cut in the mouth with a nice edge of richness, though it remains medium to light bodied. There's a lovely rush of sour apple, lime and raw quince flavors on the palate, with gentle floral accents and a hint of spice emerging on the back end. This finishes with exceptional length and brightness, and a faint hint of bitterness that serves as contrast to the deep fruit. A lot of depth here and excellent potential for development. This rocks. 92pts

22 Rodney Strong Sauvignon Blanc Charlotte's Home Sonoma County (2012)
Comments: Sweet and intensely floral on the nose with distinctive gingery wood spice and toast notes on the nose over a base of apricot, lemongrass and green apple fruit. A bit soft on entry, there’s fine acidity here but it is wrapped up in a rather creamy and medium full bodied texture. There are very attractive pineapple and clementine flavors early on the palate which gain more of a stone fruit character on the mid palate where the oak spice adds a certain spark. This really has a lovely texture, round, full yet transparent and a bit angular. the wood spice is going to be a dealbreaker for some but for most palate it just adds complexity here and fades away gently on the very lightly vanilla laced grapefruit and creamy green apple finish. 89pts
