Portuguese wines for the summer

One week away from my Summer vacations, these are the wines I'm planning on travelling with to sunny Algarve

6 Poeira Pó de Poeira Branco Portuguese White (2010)
Comments: Very interesting blend of 75% Alvarinho and 15% Gouveio, showcases how well the first can strive in the Douros schistous soils

7 Niepoort Redoma Rosé Herkunft Douro DOC (2010)
Comments: I love the balance of the whole with fresh red fruits, a mellowed palate and just enough acidity to keep it lively. Light but mouth-coating. Totally dry and slightly grippy it is perfect for light, fresh dishes and can even see it matching well with a meaty barbecue, which it did, 2 hours after tasted! More than ready to drink this Summer.

8 Niepoort "Docil" Loureiro Vinho Verde (2011)
Comments: Showcasing the Minho region and the Loureiro grape very well. Elegant and balanced, the mouthwatering acidity hides the residual sugar and lends the ensemble a lifted and very pleasant length. There is a very slight trace of CO2, that vanishes with a quick aeration. The fun part is the achievement of being ethereal but also flavoursome. This is screaming Summer!!! Bring on the grilled sardines or just drink it with friends to scare away the heat.
Previously available for $15.99

9 Dorado Alvarinho Vinho Verde (2011)
