Dark and bordeaux-colored, this wine’s aromas fit my idea of a classic Southwest France wine. Scented with red and black fruits, tree bark, barbeque spice and hung game, the wine displays both ripeness and rusticity. With the first sip, blueberry jam and minerals surface. The palate offers some granular texture along with moderate tannins and supporting acidity. Mid-weight with a fairly brief finish. Decant an hour before drinking. 13.5% abv
