GDP's California Zinfandels

76. T-Vine Cellars Zinfandel Napa Valley Frediani Vineyard (2010)

« Prev Next » 76 of 77
Dusty, tight and mineraly on the nose with restrained crushed berry fruit topped with lovely green floral notes and a slightly medicinal edge. This is a big, medicinal and coffee-toned wine with a smooth, dark and powerful palate impression that shows obvious sweetness. There’s lots of plum and blackberry fruit, turning to blueberry pie filling on the sweet finish. There’s a lot of RS here, with a short finish where tannins knock out the sweetness but don’t allow the fruit to pop. This is a bit viscous and not my style at all. 84 points

They only produce 4 varietal of Reds, Merlot, Syrah, Cab, and Zin, and they don't sell anything less that 9 years old. Currently working on their 2003 vintage. They are located at 5185 Union Road, across the street from Pear Valley. The owner is from Italy, and makes his own pasta and sauce, sausage, and salami, which he serves in his restaurant, which is on site. His fresh pizza's are to die for. If you haven't been there you need to try it, his wines are soooo smooth.
