Slight wood and clay soil tones greet the nose along with a nice crushed black fruit aroma and some nuanced French oak notes. This starts off nice and tight on the palate, turning a bit soft, with an easy-drinking texture but still focused, with black plum and blackcurrant fruit. This continues to open up, turning fruitier on the back end with a hint of bramble fruit. Very easy to enjoy. 87 points

  • 1197158Dennis Haff Have you ever tried the Zin's from Falcon's Nest in Paso Robles? They only produce 4 varietal of Reds, Merlot, Syrah, Cab, and Zin, and they don't sell anything less that 9 years old. Currently working on their 2003 vintage. They are located at 5185 Union Road, across the street from Pear Valley. The owner is from Italy, and makes his own pasta and sauce, sausage, and salami, which he serves in his restaurant, which is on site. His fresh pizza's are to die for. If you haven't been there you need to try it, his wines are soooo smooth.
