GDP's California Zinfandels

33. Ravenswood Teldeschi Vineyard Dry Creek Zinfandel (2009)

« Prev Next » 33 of 77
Black and briary on the nose with a little blue plum fruit followed by complex notes of hickory smoke and tree bark, with floral top notes and a hint of a beefy edge. Nice and snappy in the mouth with a lighter-styled mouthfeel showing decent acidity. This has lovely fruit, blue plum, wild cherry, and boysenberry that are fragrant in the mouth and supported by plenty of soft tannins that add a little edge of austerity that carries through on the modest finish. This would really be great if it showed more follow through, but it is eminently drinkable and shows lovely perfumes. 90 points

They only produce 4 varietal of Reds, Merlot, Syrah, Cab, and Zin, and they don't sell anything less that 9 years old. Currently working on their 2003 vintage. They are located at 5185 Union Road, across the street from Pear Valley. The owner is from Italy, and makes his own pasta and sauce, sausage, and salami, which he serves in his restaurant, which is on site. His fresh pizza's are to die for. If you haven't been there you need to try it, his wines are soooo smooth.
