50 yo vines in Geyserville Deep, earthy, and sharply mineral on the nose with crushed toasty black currant fruit, black raspberry fruit accented by notes of graham cracker and a little peppery spice. Deep and earthy in the mouth as well with real richness but a lean and firm character supported by super ripe tannins and fine, bright acidity. Upright in the mouth and structured like a skyscraper with lovely Zin berry fruit framed with brambly accents. Structured and powerful but superbly balance, with the structural framework just wrapped up in clear black cherry and black raspberry fruit. Unusual to find a wine with such height and breadth, yet one that is transparent in the mouth. 94pts

  • 1197158Dennis Haff Have you ever tried the Zin's from Falcon's Nest in Paso Robles? They only produce 4 varietal of Reds, Merlot, Syrah, Cab, and Zin, and they don't sell anything less that 9 years old. Currently working on their 2003 vintage. They are located at 5185 Union Road, across the street from Pear Valley. The owner is from Italy, and makes his own pasta and sauce, sausage, and salami, which he serves in his restaurant, which is on site. His fresh pizza's are to die for. If you haven't been there you need to try it, his wines are soooo smooth.
