Fave Chardonnays from the Côte Chalonnaise & Mâconnais from Spring 2014

I spent three beautiful spring days in May in the cellars of the Côte Chalonnaise and Mâconnais rather than in the sunshine. So it was the Chardonnays (and Pinot Noirs, of course) that brightened my days.

Here are my top 15 Chardonnay picks on from my twelve visits this spring.

This mid-slope vineyard faces directly east. It has a rather rich, yet well-drained, soil, that endows the wine with a nice split between structure and ripeness. There’s wild peach and plenty of apricot in this wine to make it rather gulpable. 92 pts
