14 months in new oak Deep and earthy on the nose, fleshy, lightly metallic, some salted plum and dried beef on the nose, a little grassiness, big wet seaweed note, smells like the bay at low tide in as good a way as that can sound, smooth, polished and deep with a leathery attack followed by a sweetly, jammy base that shows red currant and date notes, tough tannins are dry and a bit aggressive, dry finish is austere and lean if clean and offering a nice balance of fruit and stone 88pts
