Director of Marketing

Snooth (snooth.com), the world’s largest online wine marketplace, is looking for a smart, experienced and driven Director of Marketing.

Duties Include:

  • Work with CEO to develop and implement company marketing strategy.
  • Develop initiatives to continue to grow Snooth into market leading position.
  • Responsible for our overall brand, brand positioning, and brand strategy.
  • Grow sales and marketing team, manage marketing budget.

Skills Needed:

  • Must have strong experience (2+ years) in a managerial position at a vertical search engine, social network or online marketplace with millions of users, with 6+ years in Marketing in total.
  • Must be analytical and metrics-driven with an inspirational creative eye.
  • BA/BS or equivalent.

Position Description:

You'll work alongside a smart, dedicated team in building the next generation of Snooth. You should have direct experience nurturing a growing website from hundreds of thousands of users (today!) to millions (soon!). You’ll need to balance the disparate demands of the various constituents as the site develops. You should also understand how to develop a marketing plan and be able to execute on it in a scalable manner. You will also hire, coach and develop new marketing talent. Candidates should be smart, energetic and have a positive attitude.

Specifically, you will be required to gain a deep understanding of Snooth’s customer needs (users, merchants, wineries etc) and define logical customer segmentation to tailor Snooth product offerings. You will be required to become the expert on the marketplace in which Snooth operates – competitors and complementary businesses. The position includes a great amount of tactical marketing execution, e.g. writing press releases, writing and designing marketing creative and copy for the Snooth web site and newsletters, designing marketing contests to grow user base, writing and distributing surveys and analyzing results to optimize user experience, etc.  You should also have a quantitative approach to marketing as Snooth uses data driven decision-making processes.

  • 2+ years relevant experience at a vertical search engine, social network, or online marketplace.
  • BA/BS or equivalent.
  • Interest in and knowlege of wine

Product Manager / UI Whiz

Snooth (snooth.com), the world’s largest online wine marketplace, is looking for a smart, experienced and driven Product Manager.

Duties Include:

  • Work closely with CTO and Director of Marketing in defining and enhancing product feature set.
  • Identify new product opportunities and focus on user experience optimization.
  • Optimizing user experience through split testing and other methods.
  • Define product use cases and making sure product meets user needs.

Skills Needed:

  • 3-5 years experience in web product management, ideally related to specifying and rolling out complex, dynamic, consumer-facing websites and online products / applications.
  • Strong statistics background – HCI, information architecture etc.
  • Experience analyzing quantitative data and translating it into actionable information.
  • Proven experience creating successful, large-scale, consumer-facing sites.
  • Knowledge of online advertising, web analytics and conversion metrics a plus.
  • BA/BS or equivalent.

Position Description:

You should have direct experience in product management and user experience optimization at a consumer focused web company. You should be able to effectively communicate with the technology team as well as with the business units. You’ll need a creative eye, yet also be expected to rely on quantitative approaches to optimize the user experience.

You will be responsible for creating a world-class online experience for the leading online wine marketplace with a sophisticated, demanding and international audience. You will contribute to an ambitious online strategy with experience planning and customer insights, and executes on the strategy with information architecture, interaction design and visual design, in close collaboration with our technical and marketing teams. User Experience is important at Snooth and you will play a key role in the team. We are looking for a strong practitioner who will gather requirements, review and interpret web statistics and other research data, and help create effective, desirable and intuitive user interfaces. Projects include the Snooth.com website as well as applications and products for other delivery platforms.

LAMP Developer

Snooth (snooth.com), the world’s largest online wine marketplace, looking for a smart, hardworking and meticulous front end engineer. Projects include the Snooth.com website as well as applications and products for other delivery platforms.

Duties Include:

  • Take detailed project specs and implement them on the application.
  • Improve current features with new functionality or better cross-browser support.
  • Test code before it is released on the production environment.
  • Build unit tests.
  • Track down and fix any reported bugs.
  • Light design support. Work with the designer to ensure the pages are consistent and well formed.

Skills Needed:

  • Excellent (3 years+) with PHP, HTML, CSS, Javascript, XML.
  • Good (1-3 years+) with SQL, Photoshop.
  • Strong understanding of web technologies and standards.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Engineering Intern

Snooth (snooth.com), the world’s largest online wine marketplace, is looking for a smart, hardworking software engineering intern.

Duties Include:

  • Build tools (largely in PHP and Perl) to help the team work more efficiently.
  • Help to test code before it is released on the production environment.
  • Work with a large data set — improve quality of the data as the quantity scales.
  • Work with the team to uncover and resolve potential issues.

Skills Needed:

  • Good knowledge (1 year experience+) of some combination of PHP, Perl, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and XML.
  • Excellent communication skills.
