Vina Von Siebenthal Carmenere Aconcagua Valley Chile 2007

Member Review by dynowine:

Don't cry for me Argentina, I'm in heaven in Chile. In the mouth this wine was like the energizer bunny, its full-bodied, intense fruit just lasted and lasted the more I swished it, long after most wines would fade to zero. In fact, swishing was like popping another tart ripe burst of berries. Wine is balanced and full. Flavor was intense creamy red vanilla fruit mixed with fall leaves. On the nose mild sweet potato mixed with ripe berries and a bit of daikon radish without the zest, plus some earth. Amazing for its price-point, about $15 as tested (not sure about the price snooth listed).

This wine is an absolute winner! I love Chilean wines, tasted many, but the complexity you find in this one is outstandig. It has a typical Chilean nose with a lot of vanilla, (Swiss?) melted chocolate, dark fruits, but something fresh to it as well. First, I couldn't put my finger on it - but read somewhere that it has tints of menthol and I think that's closest to what I would say it is. And I like it! The finish of this one is also great. This wine is a happymaker!
