Scott Harvey Wines Vineyard 1869 Zinfandel 2008
Produced 100% from the Harvey Vineyard, America’s oldest Zinfandel Vineyard, documented as existing in 1869. “Vineyard 1869” was planted in the days when horses were used for culti-vation. This ancient vineyard is non-irrigated, stand alone head pruned vines that fully express the Amador Zinfandel terroir.
Our wine company produces wines from Napa Valley and Amador County
This wine is a bombshell! Seductive nose of dark red and black berry with some cola. Palate is silky blackberry and pepper lovingly wrapped in sweet vanilla (oak). Body is medium weight with a nice medium length finish with a fair amount of alcohol. This could still use some time in the bottle. 87pts.
My favorite - always a great selection for confident gift giving!
Quite an intriguing Zin, and who doesn't want to say they've had a wine made from the oldest vineyard (officially at least) in California? Lots of dark red fruit and nice lively acidity. This took a lot longer to really open up than most zins but the evolution in the glass was quite nice. After a bit spices started to creep in with tiny hints of sweet tobacco and cedar. Long finish and nice balance.
EXCELLENT!!! Sweet fruit front. A little spice mid. Smooth finish. Just wonderful....
Lovely rich red wine
