Michel Gassier Cercius Cotes du Rhone 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

"The 2009 Cercius red, a Visan Cotes du Rhone-Villages, is composed of 85% Grenache and 15% Syrah. It represents a naked expression of Cotes du Rhone as it is aged completely in concrete prior to bottling. This medium to full-bodied wine possesses a deep ruby/purple color in addition to copious black currant and black cherry fruit interwoven with graphite, crushed rocks, and spice, excellent fruit intensity, a full-bodied mouthfeel, good acidity, and light tannins. It should drink nicely for 3-4 years...91" WA 08/10

Our land – the beginning and the end A family of winemakers for four generations now, we are intimately connected to our land. By striving to live in harmony with nature we achieve a personal equilibrium and give meaning to our lives. The Mediterranean – our culture The Mediterranean is the cradle of our family. We have been nurtured by its strong and unique cultures, passionate and at times unbridled, yet always turned towards humanity. The family rock “We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.” We are but a link in a chain, receiving and then transmitting, following the path of generations past. Solidarity, trust, commitment, and love nurture the human spirit to tackle even the most ambitious projects. Read less

I would not rate this wine over 88 points. Strong alcohol on the nose. Smooth but lacking depth in my opinion. Tastes better paired with food.
