Macmurray Ranch Central Coast Pinot Noir 2007
Winemaker's Notes:
Wine Spectator Review Rated 89 Ripe, floral, perfumed aromas of black cherry and raspberry are pure and zesty. Full-bodied, balanced and delicate, showing just the right touch of acidity and tannins, with pleasant mineral and earth notes. Drink now through 2012. Wine Tasting Notes MacMurray Ranch Central Coast Pinot Noir possesses an expressive fruit character, exhibiting bright aromas of blue and red fruits of cherry, ripe blueberries and dark current. The flavors are melded together with earthy notes, balanced perfectly with the nuance of sweet vanilla from the oak aging.
Editorial Reviews for Macmurray Ranch Central Coast Pinot Noir
Lightly sweet and smoky with notes of smoked meats, roasted herbs, and minerals framing the dark, roasted fruit. The wood is a bit raw on the nose and gives this a hard, aggressive edge. Nice cherry fruit on the palate with a slight herbal edge adding freshness and complexity. The tannins are a bit coarse and there is that raw woody edge on the short finish but the fruit is fresh with good intensity and the feel is fresh, if somewhat chunky. 86pts

Add your reviewFor the price this is a nice little bottle with a light nose of cherry cough syrup. It's tart and has a bunch of acidity, it's a bit more sweet tasting and flabby than I usually like my pinot.
Yech. way too astringent, no balance. The acid made it hard to pick out flavors even after I had decanted it. I guess this is not the answer for value Pinot.

87 Points - Robert Parker Wine Advocate Pinot Noir Central Coast (largely from Santa Lucia Highlands vineyards) exhibits a deep ruby/purple-tinged color as well as sweet notes of smoke, black cherries, crushed rocks, and damp earth. This tasty effort comes across like an attractive Cote de Beaune Pinot. Drink it over the next 3-4 years. Score: 87. Robert Parker, December 2008. Grapes from premier Central Coast vineyards including Olson Ranch in the Santa Lucia Highlands contributed to the final blend of this wine. A Pinot with classic aromas from the cool micro- climates of the Central Coast, this wine showcases flavors of red cherry, cola, and briar complimented by nuances of sweet vanilla.
