Frei Brothers Reserve Pinot Noir 2006
Redwood Creek represents the spirit of Northern California and consistently delivers a rich, flavorful experience at an attractive price. Description The 2006 French Pinot Noir has aroma of cherry and earthy mushrooms, with flavors of ripe Bing cherries and dried cranberry fruit. The finish is soft and velvety.
Simple, straightforward pinot noir. Not a lot of depth or complexity to the macerated cherry aromas and the cherry, vanilla and cola flavors. Texture is a little rough for a pinot, but a good value for the price.
If this is the bottle that says "Provincia di Pavia" in addition to the other names on the bottle, I found it smooth and not biting, a pleasant red to sip, but not sweet as some sipping wines are. That is a good thing.
