The current Winery Block comprises 43ha Sauvignon Blanc, 1.5ha Semillon, and 1.5ha Chardonnay. The region immediately adjacent to the winery buildings has some of the oldest Sauvignon Blanc vines, going back to 1980. This vineyard produces Sauvignon Blanc with intensely herbal and some sweaty characters. Fruit from the alluvial silts produce aroma and racy characters while fruit from the stonier sites has a textural character. Fruit from this vineyard shows traditional, typical Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc characters. This vineyard now has Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand Accreditation. Read less

Pale yellow with slightly greenish tinge. As soon as the glass gets near your nose, the little hairs start to curl with the tartness coming from the glass. Green apple and chalk along with the barest whiff of honey are sensed upon the nose. On the palate that tartness of green apple is there but the sense of passion fruit is strong along with a touch of oak. There is a bright acidity that doesn’t linger at all. All the scents and flavors in this wine are very intense and they haven’t lessened over the years. This is great wine to pair with seafood, especially flavors like halibut or cod.

This is a pretty interesting wine. It's crisp and herbaceous. Green pepper, gooseberries, melon, grass, think green. It's also quite fresh in the way biting into a fresh vegetable would be. While light and drinkable, the short acidic finish is slightly jarring.

The exotic fruits on the initial taste is overbearing.

Great example of the Marlborough Sav. Blanc. I prefer this over the Kim Crawford that had been a favorite of mine (disclaimer I drink mostly reds). For once the winemaker's notes seem one target although I'd start with citrus and lead to peach instead of the grasses

Great wine. Nice nose of passion fruit. In my opinion a great cost/benefit ratio.

Had a bottle of 2007 (in Aug 2011) which I'd expected to be past its prime. Was very good; not the best Marlborough SB that I've had but was pleasantly surprised given its age.

Wine Enthusiast ReviewRated 91Agressively pungent and herbal without being over the top, this is Sauvignon Blanc that screams of its origins. Grapefruit and passion fruit flavors wash easily across the palate, leaving plenty of grassy herbaceousness in their wake, and a crisp, lingering finish. Drink now.
