Drc la Tache 1996

Member Review by enophiliac:

My economy with words doesn't afford new adjectives to describe the level of wine we are talking about. It's like in White Men Can't Jump when Sidney turned to Billy while listening to Hendrix and said: "Look man, Your can listen to Jimi but you can't hear him. There's a difference man. Just because your listening to him doesn't mean you're hearing him." I don't think many can evaluate the breadth of history behind what may very well be the greatest wine in the world. The 1996 La Tache was 20 years young when I tasted it for the first time. Sophisticated and concentrated, this La Tache was holding back so much that it still had to give. Soft, rich, so technically proficient I am still in awe.

Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.
