Dopff au Moulin Gewürztraminer 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

Wine growers since 1574, today, 3 generations manage the Dopff's estate: Pierre Dopff, the Managing Director, his son Pierre-Etienne, General Manager, and Etienne-Arnaud, Logistic and Development Manager. With more than 70 hectares of productive vineyard, Dopff 'Au Moulin' has become the most important domain in the heart of the best wine region. It is mainly situated around the little town of Riquewihr, on the south-facing slopes of the Schoenenbourg ('Belle côte'), excellent Riesling country. It has also extended towards Hunawihr, Mittelwihr, the Hardt of Colmar and as far as the Brand of Turckheim.

Established in the village of Riquewihr in 1574, the Dopff family have dedicated themselves to the fine art of Alsation wines for over 13 generations, passing down ownership and skills from Father to son. With just over 70 hectares under vine, Dopff au Moulin has become the most important estate in the Grand Cru Region on the South facing slopes of the Schoenenbourg (Belle Cote/Beautiful Hill) in the renowned Riesling Country, known for centuries for its excellent growing qualities. Dopff is brand new to us at Great Wines Direct and signing up to this Top Class Alsation winery was not an easy thing to do, so we are very pleased to say the least! The signing was actually a very easy decision to make once we had sampled the wines for ourselves and we are sure you will have no problem in agreeing with us once you try them! This whole range is an exceptional line up, both in price and quality, and a special mention should be made of the Cremant dAlsace, a leader in sparkling wines and invented in the 1800s by Dopff. Vintage: N/V Grapes: Pinot Blanc from the Grand Cru Estates Taste: Light and delicate with floral aromas, dry, crisp and fresh with soft ripe fruit flavours. This wine is round and full flavoured. Alc: 12% Serve: With canapes, as an aperitif or light snacks such as Quiche Lorraine

An expressive nose of rose petal and exotic fruits turns into an elegant, fullbodied wine with notes of candied fruit and spices.
