Cold Creek Cabernet Sauvignon 2008
3.5 overall, and a pretty good value. But this listing should be deleted- it duplicates "Chateau Ste. Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon 2008" with region specified as "Columbia Valley". (My review, and another, is under THAT listing.)
WOW. This is much more impressive than their 2007. The color is about the same; but for nose, taste, and finish, it's much more smooth and powerful. Very grape-forward, not much complexity. But this generic "Columbia Valley" product suggests that 2008 will be THE Washington State vintage to look for in Cabs and Cab blends. (Maybe Merlot too, haven't tasted one yet.) In my town, a local grocery store made the mistake (for them, not for me :)) of offering an introductory price of less than $7. I bought CASES of the stuff. Unfortunately, it now goes for way more. But, at $15 or less,it's a bargain. I suspect that it will improve with age. I wonder, what will the high-end 2008 releases be like? I'm definitely looking forward to the Release of Columbia Crest H3; it might be an amazing value, with even higher overall quality.
For an over all drinkable wine this is the efin ticket. Smooth plum, fig, deep without the obscene high notes. A wine for guiness drinkers. Expand out to a Layer Cake Malbec. These are definitely LPR,s. (Liquid panty removers..) Get some while the gettins' good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spice - a hint of tobacco, a hint of milk chocolate - gives way to a ripe set of fruit flavors in this big shouldered, thoroughly seductive red. The texture is driven by fine, peppery tannins, which stem the tide of ripe, plummy fruit, giving the wine a touch of elegance even as it remains irresistible. It's drinking beautiful now; a by-the-case buy.
Deep garnet red color. Medium-bodied. Moderately extracted. Quite tannic. Plums, currants, minerals, brown spice. Rich, ripe black fruit aromas are confirmed on the palate. Some tough angular tannins come through on the finish giving an assertive character. Best with rich foods.
A full-bodied wine with rich aromas and intense cherry flavor. Enjoy now with barbecued beef or grilled lamb, but put some aside for winter chili or stew.
On the lighter side, showing nicely ripe cherry and spice flavors, as well as hints of tobacco on the soft finish. Drink now. 240,000 cases made. -HS
Ripe black cherry character is accented by notes of black pepper. There are also notes of chocolate and creamy vanilla. The tannins are sweet and supple, leading into a pleasant moderate finish.
A straight-ahead, no-frills effort that shows herb-tinged cassis and cherry fruit and tight, dry tannins. A hint of tobacco and green tea enlivens the finish. This wine surely will prove cellar-worthy; it may not reach its peak for at least a decade.
Chocolate, coffee and nutmeg aromas are accented with a hint of cassis. Rich black cherry and plum flavors blend with spice and black pepper on the palate. The soft, elegant tannin structure leads to a lingering finish.
