2006 Carlisle Syrah Knights Valley "Pelkan Ranch"Very dark ruby-purple. Aromas of blackberry and Satsuma plum with suggestions of Jujubes, tar, meat, and vanilla. A wonderful sniff! Full-bodied but not at all fat due to the mountain-grown tannins. Really blossoms texturally on day two, an indication of the good things to come.winery notes: Perhaps one of our most consistent fruit sources, those who have tasted previous vintages will know exactly what to expect another outstanding Pelkan Ranch Syrah! Picked later than ever, on October 14th, the fruit was fully destemmed and cold-soaked for four days before inoculation with a yeast isolated from the Cte du Rhne. At five brix, the wine was pressed to all French Oak, 62% new, to finish fermentation in barrel. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.only 210 cases made.This is a California Wine

We are a small Sonoma County winery specializing in the production of old-vine, vineyard designated zinfandels and red Rhone varieties (syrah, grenache, mourvèdre, and petite sirah). While we like our wines to be bold, rich, and intensely flavored, each reflecting a sense of place, its origins in the vineyard, we also strive to create wines of balance, complexity, and perhaps most importantly, pleasure.
RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

Meaty, deep, and masculine smelling with a touch of buried wood and herb. Trademark seamlessness in the mouth with excellent balance and good impact to the notes of grilled meats and dark spicy, plummy fruit on the palate. Still a bit wound up and needs time to relax but excellent raw materials.
Deep, jammy, vanilla, smoky, peppery jerky, spicy boysenberry fruit, really white peppery and dried meaty with a hint of milk chocolate. Packed with fruit, fairly seamless in the mouth with a wonderful intensity and purity to the dark berry fruit tones. The tannins and acid are there but it’s frankly hard to judge either since they are so well integrated and balanced. The fruit is dark, rich and surprisingly fresh. The tannin and red cherry fruit tones slowly ooze out, and a nice vanillin top note emerges in the glass. The finish is long and laced with minerals, olive brine and tar. This needs a bit more time, say another 2 years but it verging on excellent already 90pts
Spicy, slightly hot, peppered nose. Bright, red, juicy, spicy, leader, chocolate and coffee. All of the players in a delicious Syrah are right there. It's deep, dark, with blackberry for miles.
vanilla, dark caramel, and jam on the nose. dark fruit, cocoa, and chocolate on the palate with a tannic finish. has incredible potential.
Jammy, chocolate, lots of pepper, blackberries, ... a rich very nice Zinfandel
This Carlisle syrah like their zinfandels is all about texture and intensity of flavor. Super dense, rich and packed full of black fruit flavors, smoke, meat and tar. Very seamless wine from beginning to end. No highs or lows; just a long, clean and lasting finish. Needs some time to open up, but when it does, oh yeah mama.
