Argot Couture California Rose 2011
100% Grenache, whole-cluster pressed rosé. Bottled in 500 ml glass. The grapes that comprise Couture were organically grown in Mendocino county. The juice is immediately pressed off its skins into neutral oak casks. The juice is allowed a long, undisturbed, cool fermentation to retain maximum freshness of the fruit character. Great care is taken to suppress malolactic fermention preserving brightness and verve.
Lovely aromas of fresh strawberries and raspberries, the palette bouncing around with more of that red berry fruit plus some nice hints of apricot and lingonberry. Very refreshing without being boring, it has fine balance. This wine shows that Americans can make a great true rose that isn't an afterthought or a compromise.
