The wines from ZANTHO are made in cooperation of Umathum winery and Wolfgang Peck from Winzerkeller Andau. Josef Umathum guarantees for the high quality of the grapes and is responsible for the quality management in the vineyards. Wolfgang Peck, Managing Director of Winzerkeller Andau, is responsible for the winemaking. Together they produce on 50ha of vineyards typical wines made from indigenous grapes.

I found this wine to have a spicy, red fruit character, typical of Zweigelt. Although this is a lighter style than some other Zweigelts I have tasted, I found it to be pleasurable to drink on its own. Although for a couple years of aging and the wine will develop a much more complex character.
Not a whole lot happening in my mouth on this wine. The nose is nice but in the mouth this falls flat. The only things that I got were a little spice and a musty flavor. This bottle may have been bad.
A nice wine, soft nose with moist pine duff aromas; fresh fruit flavors with a little bite in the aftertaste. I'd try serving this with something unorthodox: Mexican fajitas or black bean soup laced with cummin and garnished with sour cream and fresh cilantro.
