Lovely, intense aromatics combine hints of lychee and green tea with crisp green pear tones and well-integrated notes of fading spices, chalk, chestnut and lavender. Really rich yet bright on entry, with a seductive mouthfeel that manages to be both filling and vivid. The fruit is verging into the slightly honied, dried peach end of the spectrum with lovely spice tones and creamy edges helping to frame the fruit. The finish is powerful and focused with deep mineral tones and a lingering apricot note. 92pts

Really bold and powerful with a soft touch, butteriness and mild acids are in perfect balance, the fruits are melonous and tropical. Would go great with couscous and salmon.
Lovely light nose of peach and apricot. I really like the texture of the wine, it's creamy and juicy at the same time, with the tiniest bit of a bite at the end and a long creamy finish. Flavors have nice fat stone fruits and some oak. Very pleasant.

Bone dry, ultra-crisp in acidity, and lean in mineral flavors, this barrel-fermented, lees-aged Roussanne is the opposite of rich. But it's enormously elegant, and its leanness contains subtle hints of Meyer lemons, grapefruits, toast, yeast and cold, hard steel.
The attractive 2007 Roussanne displays more waxy orange marmalade notes, medium body, with a slight touch of tannin, and a pleasant finish. It is a lighter Roussanne, but commercially has appeal. Drink it over the next year. Firm and focused, with pear, fig, nut, mineral and spice flavors that are robust, finishing with a touch of heat. Drink now. 1,943 cases made. -MW ** SOLD OUT **

Roussanne can be big and buxom, a D-cup kinda gal that hasn’t seen her feet in years. This one looks golden raisin-rich, and entices with major aromas of honey, fig and ripe apricots. Truly a decadent nose. But on the palate, she’s no heavyweight, and can easily tie her footwear without, ahem, interference. From a true pioneer in Rhône varietals comes this brioche                                                                          filled with cream and apricot marmalade wine. It is rich in a lean way, as the minerality keeps it pretty taut. The nutty finish speaks of substantial oak influence: 70 percent new for 10 months, in Dargaud-Jaegle and Marcel Cadet cooperage. The fruit comes from eight acres of Zaca Mesa’s estate vineyard, Block Foxen C, which was planted with the Tablas clone in 1999.The 2005 growing season was very mild and dry, with a warming trend during August and September that allowed full flavour development at lower sugar levels than usual. In fact, most Roussannes are north of 15 percent alcohol, so this one does indeed exhibit restraint. The grapes were gently pressed, and fermented in French oak barrels, after which the wine was aged <i>sur lie en battonage</i> for 10 months, with regular stirring to enhance the rich, creamy mouth feel. There is a very pleasing, almost flinty acidity that hints of Seckel pears and crisp white peaches. Definitely a wine for rich chicken and fish dishes, or a pizza with garlic prawns, Havarti and dried apricots.
