Peppered beef jerky and leather aromas. Deep dark ripe raspberries and good spice, well integrated oak and leather. A nice big wine, but so smooth.
Wolf blass is never a deception. Full body, broad texture, a very nice big wine ;).
Been cellaring this one for over 2 years...I should have waited longer. It's definitely closed still and not ready to drink. I won't score it as I feel that would not be fair.
Purple true like Alvin or just the color. Classic nose, tart start, long deep back of palate. This is a shiraz to put in the cellar and sampled periodically on Winter's evening with Christmas or Hanukah-ish dinner or roast lamb or venison (let me say Kangaroo tail steak ... from those butchers in White Plains or Glendale). Took a bottle to a middle eastern friends party ... never even saw the bottle again (? how ghosh?). Invited next weekend for brunch where he serve Krug Champagne and this humble Shiraz with Merquez spicey lamb sausage: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merguez A number of guests requested evacuation to Heaven or the Barossa when we ran out. Rating 92/100. Can probably cellar til 2020.

Round, velvety and generous with its smoky blackberry and tar flavors, gently balanced with tangy acidity, but the emphasis is on the berry and spice flavors that linger on the finish. Not a typical Barossa Shiraz, but itrsquo;s a honey. Drink now through 2010.
Medium ruby. Full-throttle, oaky aromas of dark berries, plum, fennel and cured tobacco. Supple and open-knit, with flavors of ripe plum, cherry and vanillin oak. Moderately long and gently tannic on the finish, where the oak and plum notes recur.
