Willm Pinot Blanc Alsace Aoc 2011
This gentle, elegant Pinot Blanc has soft aromas of pear, lemon and a touch of honeysuckle. The palate is clean with a soft mid-palate and more hints of citrus and honey.[In Alsace, Auxerrois and Pinot Blanc are considered the same. They are not. Many producers label their wines (legally) as 'Pinot Blanc' although they can be mostly (or even 100%!) Auxerrois adding body and some richness.]
2007 vintage. Grapey white with a touch of sweetness. A bit of vanilla and minerality, granny smith apple, and golden raisin. My first Pinot Blanc but it reminds me of some of our New York State white wines. The cork was dry and there are bits of cork in the wine, which is a bit of a turnoff, but otherwise I like it reasonably well. Decent white for an aperitif.
