Val di Suga Rosso di Montalcino 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Ruby red. Full bouquet of spices and red berries and plums. Medium bodied easy drinking wine. The flavor is dry with well-rounded tannins and a pleasant finish. Great food wine and pairs nicely with everything from pizza and pasta to roasted meats.

Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Not a bad Rosso di Montalcino, yet not a great one either. Non-descript enough to not be a strong re-buy. Overall OK, but we've tasted so many others that caught more of our attention. 14.95. VW

Bright red raspberry fruit on the nose with a little bit of red currants and also wet stone. Very acidic and tannic, sour cherries on the palate, an earthiness quality, light med bodied. Great with our Italian meal as it brought out the red fruit components. Completely grabbed on to my steak tartare.

A surprising balance with strong fruity scents, it is as drinkable as great to match with food. Great value for money.
