Terra Valentine Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain District 2012
Quite dark blacck plum color. Spicy, oaky nose. Initial mouth sensation is tartness. Then, Spring Mouhtain tannin takes over. Some cassis and black fruit flavors. Some bitterness in the back of the palate, However, the finish is very satisfying. No, I don't mean that its great now that I've swallowed it. This wine is opening up as I am sipping. The tartness is diminished in subsequent tastes. Fruit does not jump out. Rather the wine has taken a refreshing drinkable character. US$29.99 at Costco.Add winemaker's notes

Lots of red and black currant on the nose with young wood and a touch of green herbaceousness. Flavors of blackberry with firm tannin, good acid and nice minerality. Nice and lingers on ripe fruit with good acid. 88 pts. 4/20/13

While this wine isn't bad, it has a different style from other wines in the region that I have grown to enjoy. The mineral and herb hints overwhelmed the fruit for me in this wine leaving me with a someone bitter finish. They do have a great property, and it seems like they are increasing the marketing of this wine. Hopefully it will get better.
Very Bordeaux-like on the nose. Lean with a lot of finesse in the mouth and a dark red fruit finish. Delicious.
black currant, oak, tannins, slight herbs; more flavorful than the 2001

So ripe, you can taste the sun bursting through the blackberry flavor. Firm, refined tannins, good acidity and a grounding minerality provide complex structure to this intensely concentrated mountain wine. Drink now–2018.
Rich and meaty, with a dense, gutsy core of loamy earth, dried herb and berry, and tobacco. Firm and structured, harboring compact mountain-grown fruit that will reward cellaring. Best from 2014 through 2024.
Nose of black violets, cocoa nibs, eucalyptus, mint, cedar and Mexican chocolate. The texture is almost indescribable; well-integrated tannins and plush ribbons of fruit that take the palate on a layered ride of caramel, toasted marshmallow, mineral notes and shitake-umami flavors.
The nose opens with bright fruit, currants, spice, bittersweet chocolate, cedar and lead . Jubilant fruit and bright cola berry follows with notes of caramel, dried fig and sweet cherry tannins. Will age nicely for the next 5-7 years.

A beautiful estate Cab as usual from Terra Valentine. Perhaps not in the top league of vintages, but fine and opulent, with blackberry, black currant, mineral and oak flavors. Now, with decanting, and through 2012. - S.H. Intense, with spicy, loamy earth, mineral and pebble notes mixed with dried currant and blackberry fruit. Full-bodied and tannic, yet the flavors push through on the finish. Drink now through 2016. 5,586 cases made. -JL A reasonably decent value in Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is Terra Valentines 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon. Licorice, forest floor, roasted herbs, black currants, and damp forest notes make for a complex set of aromatics. The wine is solid, medium-bodied, and spicy, with light tannin in the finish. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. ** Only 1 in Stock **
