External Reviews for Terra d'Oro Shr Zinfandel
A fine value is the 1999 Zinfandel Terra d'Oro. This Zinfandel fruit bomb reveals ripe blackberry and cherry fruit intermixed with smoke, earth, licorice, and tar. Chewy, full-bodied, opulently-textured, and pure, with a whopping 15.5% alcohol, this well-balanced effort will drink well for 5-6 years.
You'll find some raisiny flavors that result in an overcooked aroma and flavor, as well as some rough tannins. It's a rustic Zin whose edges will be rounded out with rich cheeses or meats.
Ripe, rich and full-bodied, a wine that excites the palate with a delicious coat of blackberry and chocolate fruit sprinkled with pepper. Dry, with smooth, complex tannins, and Zin's wild, exuberant nature.
