Stella and Mosca Cannonau Riserva Sardegna 2005
Wine Advocate Review Rated 88 The 2005 Cannonau di Sardegna Riserva is made in a light to medium-bodied style that emphasizes its ethereal, perfumed aromatics rather than an over expression of fruit, as is often the case with other Cannonaus. Theis understated, elegant wine reveals a core of sweet cherries that gradually emerges with air. It remains a feminine wine of notable class, particularly at this level. Wine Tasting Notes Intense with scents of violet. Well-rounded and supple with rich, ripe, plummy flavors.
Sweet floral scent, otherwise muted. The floral scent of this wine carries over into the initial taste. Medium tannins with a floral taste as well. a drier finish
Great wine + value. Spicy and dry. Funky (in a good way) - fun might be a better descriptor ;-)
Versatile, fruity, pairs well with many dishes. Hints of raspberry and strawberry could be a poor man's Pinot Noir.
Awesome wine. Underrated, because the entire region is underrated. This presumably 89-point wine tastes better than many 90-92-point wines I tasted in the last year.
Really intense. Great earthy, barnyard smell with hints of gasoline...I know by that description it sounds awful...but this is a nice bottle of wine.
Horrible - overpowering gasoline taste. Not even fit to cook with. First bottle was so bad, I thought it was corked, got a 2nd and nope, just plain old terrible wine.
First time I tried it I was not a big fan but I gave it another try and now I am hooked, 2 of my favorite red wine types are now this from Sardinia and Nero D' Avola from Sicily and they are 2 or the least expensive reds from Italy too with the most health benefits as well.
