Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Sauvignon Blanc 2011 is a blend of 59% Sauvignon Musque and 41% Sauvignon Blanc that is fermented in a combination of previously filled French oak barrels (76%) and stainless steel (24%) and aged for 4-5 months in previously filled French oak barrels. This Napa white offers vibrant, layered aromas of pineapple, stone fruit, green apple and lime on the nose. On the palate, flavors of pear, honeydew melon, citrus, toasted almonds and minerals with bright acidity and a long, lingering finish.

Estate-grown grapes from their vineyard adjacent to the Napa River in the Oak Knoll District are sourced primarily for this wine. And just over the hill in the warmer Wooden Valley, long-time grower Terry Wilson farms Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Musque at Rancho Chimiles. The Chimiles Sauvignon grapes lend racy citrus and mineral notes to the wine. The estate grapes as well as the Chimiles grapes are a mix of Sauvignon Blanc and the highly aromatic clone known as Sauvignon Musque. The juice is fermented in a mix of older French oak barrels and stainless steel tanks. The wine remained in contact with the lees for six months, rounding out the texture. Wine & Spirits Magazine scored this 93 points saying "Blended from SLWC’s estate vineyard in Oak Knoll with a small contribution from Rancho Chimiles in Wooden Valley, in the hills south of Atlas Peak, this is predominantly sauvignon musqué (59 percent). The flavors are both luscious and fresh, their ripeness ranging from pear and passion fruit to tighter pink grapefruit pith. It’s a sturdy sauvignon with the kind of richness that’s suited to meaty grilled fish."
