St. Amant Winery Barbera Lodi 2008

Member Review by boris8:

Rich, heavy, but with a certain brightness. Brilliant garnet color, not inky but clear. Nose: plums, blackberries, cedar, allspice, moss. Palate: Intense, clear plummy fruit with woody overtones. Heavy but balanced because acidity is fruit-driven rather than sharp. Finish: Very long, with fruit, well-integrated tannins, iron shavings. This is the Lodi style, well executed. At this level of intensity there is some loss of varietal character, but overall this is excellent. Lay it down? I would not. Drinkable now? Absolutely. I am glad to have a few more bottles of this.

Lovely garnet color - light essences of red fruit on the nose. Medium acidity, scintilating fruit tastes that linger for a good length, meshed with hints of earth & herbs - nice balance - quite enjoyable
