External Reviews for Spring Mountain Vineyard Red Bordeaux Blend Spring Mountain District Elivette
When Jac Cole came to Spring Mt. in rsquo;01 he blended the selection from 110 vineyard blocks within the estatersquo;s three contiguous vineyards. The blend of the best lots is mostly Cabernet with 8% Merlot and a touch of Petit Verdot. My first notes on this wine were all about structure: its refinement, balance and harmony. And when leads with complete integration, its bound to be good. Slowly, over the course of a day this opens to a spiciness like black puer tea. The fruit remains tight, black as plum skin, but generous in its depth and texture. It all hangs together in a supple whole, to cellar for ten years or more.
This is Spring Mountainrsquo;s reserve bottling, made from certain lots of wine that are set aside because of their quality and distinctive personality. Itrsquo;s designed to be a long-lived wine of concentration, harmony and elegance. A near-perfect growing season gives this vintage exceptional depth, power and concentration, with rich, dark flavors that linger on the palate and finish with style and polish.
A rich, smooth and seductive style that starts out with flashy toasty, smoky oak and leads to a ripe, slightly hot and intense wine with layers of currant and blackberry fruit that firms up on the finish, with a surge of tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2012.
Sleek and a bit rustic, with a green, stalky edge to the earthy currant and cedar flavors. Finishes with firm, integrated tannins but also an herbal streak. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best from 2004 through 2010. 3,000 cases made. -JL Wine Spectator. A Proprietary Blend wine from California in USA. 2000 Spring Mountain Vineyard Elivette 750ml
