Soter P Noir N Vly09 750m 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2009 vintage was generally cool but punctuated by a timely period of warmth in mid-summer and again toward the end of the growing season. This is evident when we taste the ripe, primary fruit flavors of the 2009 North Valley Pinot Noir. Our diverse vineyard sites provided grapes with ample sweetness and fine acidity resulting in an aromatically engaging wine marked by lush fruit, soft silken mouth feel and more complexity than might initially “meet the eye”. Red fruits are predominant showcasing wild cherry, raspberry and marionberry with intgriguing savory undertones hinting at tarragon and clove. Bright acidity preserves the wine’s inherent sleekness and overall charm.

Soter Vineyards:
The site of Mineral Springs, located just east of the town of Carlton, is a source of great excitement to us. Planted to 15 acres of Pinot Noir in 2002 and 2003, and 17 acres of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in 2006, this 250-acre ranch is perched on a mesa with gentle slopes, with commanding views of the surrounding Yamhill-Carlton District. As a vineyard site, Mineral Springs has an extremely compelling confluence of prime exposure, and uniform, well-drained, pale sedimentary soils. Imagine half of an upside-down bowl facing due south - here the vines absorb the sun from an ideal aspect, from morning through twilight. Unlike many vineyards with small depressions and moist swales, this is a gentle, highly uniform slope. We have high expectations for the vineyard-designated Pinot Noirs and Sparkling Wine that will eventually emerge from this vineyard. Mineral Springs Vineyard is planted between 380 and 440 feet in elevation. Exposure ranges from southeast to west, with most acreage facing south and southwest. Our soils are crumbly, loamy, pale marine Keasey series sediments such as sandstone and fractured siltstone, mixed with clay. The topsoil layer is rather shallow in many places, and drainage is excellent. Read less

This is an awsome Pinot for $20.00, drinks like a $40-50 range bottle, I'm picing up a few cases before they run out.

In the 2009 vintage, Soter Vineyards handled the conditions as well as anyone. The entry-level bottling, the dark ruby-colored 2009 North Valley Pinot Noir was aged in only 10-20% new oak. Potpourri, incense, and bright red fruits inform the nose of ... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. A Pinot Noir wine from Oregon in USA. 2009 Soter Pinot Noir North Valley 375ml

Quite concentrated, with plenty of black cherry and black raspberry fruit, it also gives up notes of dried herbs and floral notes. Impeccably balanced and lengthy for the vintage, it should drink well for up to a decade

Ripe and juicy dark berries dominate the nose and the palate. Complexity is added with a mineral note. Well balanced with a velvety mouthfeel.
