Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay Russian River Valley Russian River Ranches 2010
Fresh, intense aromas with floral highlights of acacia blossoms move quickly to more traditional Chardonnay aromas of pear, peach, and apple. Tropical notes of guava and toasted coconut are joined by hints of lemongrass and vanilla. The wine is beautifully balanced, delicate yet rich and creamy with well integrated oak. The many pleasures offered by blending our Russian River vineyards brings classic lemon-lime flavors with a slight hint of honey and butter mid-palate. A touch of creme fresh enhances our fruit-forward style, with mineral notes in a distinctive lingering finish.
I'm not much of a Chardonnay drinker, however if I do I reach for one from Russian River. Sonoma-Cutrer is a prime example of one these brilliant Chardonnays that impresses year in and year out. On the nose you get green apple, which turns into flavors of pineapple, apple and a slight floral note as well that is balanced out with some crisp acidity. Because of malolactic fermentation and New French Oak barreling, this wine ends up being very balanced and fresh, with some complexity you don't typically find in Chardonnays. Great for summer.

Distinct aromas of ginger and lemon zest are joined by toasty coconut, melon and caramel alongside a mineral, flinty cedar chest oakiness overlaid by notes of honeysuckle. Well-balanced with a solid acid backbone, the wine is rich and medium-heavy with a broad, yet firm, mid-palate. The long, lingering finish displays a touch of spice and lively acidity. Flavors of lemon, apple, pear, pineapple and cantaloupe, Sonomas full cornucopia of fruit, join a nutty, spicy, lightly oaky profile. Fermented in oak and undergoing complete malolactic fermentation, the wine shows a mature influence by older vines and promises to evolve over time, bringing joy to both winemaker and those lucky enough to savor a glass. - Winery
Intense aromas of ripe apple are dotted with cinnamon and clove, as hazelnuts bathed in cream join fragrant notes of acacia blossoms. In the mouth, the wine is dense and concentrated, while simultaneously offering a softer, sensual side in balance. Flavors of baked apple appear alongside glazed pineapple and fresh tangerine, as a hint of clove entertains the taste buds. With its perfect backbone of acidity, the wine is fresh, alive and begging to be enjoyed again and again.
