Simonassi Malbec 2010

Member Review by Steve Peter:

Nose is violet, plum, dark cherry, tobacco, and vanilla. Very aromatic. The front is dark fruits: currant, black cherry, plums. On the mid-palate, the tannins and oak begin to become noticeable, and the nice long finish definitely has some oak in it. I'd love to grab another bottle and lay it down for a while to see how it develops.

Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Thought this malbec was kind of uncharacteristic other than the carmelized nose which is kind of annoying than intriguing. Other than that, a smooth mouthfeel and not too heavy, more medium bodied

Hailing from the Italian region of Asti, the Simonassi family has been making wine since the 1700s. This powerful red wine, full-bodied, yet soft in structure, cries out for roast duck or BBQ pork!.
