Sandeman Twenty Years Old Tawny Port NV

Member Review by aronowm2:

This was just a delight. I love being able to open a bottle and have it last for a week on my kitchen counter with the cork inside. 20 years worked it's magic on this making it look like a pinot but with the punch of a great scotch. I was expecting a thicker syrupy wine but I love the smoothness and this gave me a great buzz.

Pale to mid-deep amber/tawny hue. Full, fresh and a touch lifted on the nose - very sweet in style, full of summer fruit. Refined and silky with savoury undertones, not as delicate as some but soft, sweet and refined.

This has a bright aroma, with notes of lemon zest and flavors of apricot, peach tart and caramel. The long finish echoes the fresh fruit, with lots of butterscotch and nut notes. Drink now.

Aromatic and nutty, with good freshness. Warming, classical tawny with a long finish.

Deep copper hue. Medium-bodied. Moderately extracted. Toasted wood, caramel. Pleasantly aromatic with a sense of richness in the flavorful palate. Long and lively finish with good grip. A mature tawny you should enjoy. Light up a cigar and pour yourself a glass.

Intense flavors of walnuts, cooked caramel, and orange marmalade; long finish.

One of the stars of the Sandeman stable, this is a nicely balanced tawny thatandrsquo;s a bit drier-tasting than most, with a touch of tannic structure to help support the flavors of caramelized nuts, surprisingly vigorous red fruits and maple syrup. Peppery on the finish.
