S.A. Prüm Riesling Kabinett Ürziger Würzgarten 2009

External Review by Palm Bay International:

The Prüm family has roots in Mosel region of Germany that date back as far as 1156, making it one the country’s preeminent winemaking dynasties. The current estate, now a century old and located in Wehlen in the heart of the Mosel, has been under the direction of Raimund Prum since 1971. Under his leadership and the involvement of his daughter Saskia, the property has become one of the region’s most successful wineries, boasting an international reputation for the production of exquisite Rieslings in a range of styles that satisfy and please every palate. Production Area The 140-acre Würzgarten (spice garden) vineyard has a unique soil of red slate and “Rotliegendes,” a red soil of volcanic origin. The wines from this vineyard have an exotic, herbal quality with an extraordinary depth of flavor. The site features extremely steep vineyards of old, ungrafted vines. Grape Varieties 100% Riesling Vinification Select grapes are hand-harvested in mid October and, following de-stemming and six hours of skin contact, fermented with native yeasts for 4-5 weeks in stainless steel tanks. The resulting wine is bottled under Stelvin closure. Color Light Gold Bouquet Delicate nose of ripe peaches in combination with unique herbal aromatics Taste Extraordinary depth of flavor. Perfectly balanced with spicy, stone fruit flavors with distinct minerality Alcohol 7.5% Serving Suggestions Well-matched with salads, seafood and light veal dishes.
