External Reviews for Royal Tokaji Wine Co. Tokaji
Floral, gooseberry and melon aromas and flavors highlight this fluid, vibrant white. Balanced and refreshing. A good summer quaff. Drink now.
It is not surprising that when they turned their attention to dry wine, their 2006 Furmint would be worthy of wine loversrsquo; attention. Pineapple, lime zest, musky flowers, and wood smoke scent the nose. On the palate, this displays the phenolic cut and refreshing citricity as well as the subtly bitter oiliness common to virtually all Furmint. But there is a satisfying sheer juiciness here that allows the bitter-sweet nutty and zesty side of the variety to add complexity rather than dominate the proceedings. Enjoy this distinctive and intensely-flavored wine over the coming year, particularly in strongly herbal, citric, or charred and grilled food contexts. Royal Tokaji was also long reluctant to bottle nobly sweet wine of less than Tokaji Aszu concentration, even as many of their neighbors were leaning heavily on such ldquo;late-harvestrdquo; (but not official Aszu) cuvees.
Made from the indigenous Hungarian white variety that is fast gaining popularity with worldwide wine drinkers, this white starts with an intense aromatic nose of nuts and citrus. On the palate, first impressions is of a quite wine, but flavors of lemon, tropical fruit and toast gain momentum. elegant and intriguing, itrsquo;s a wine with an exotic twist.
