This is one of the best wines for the price that I've ever come across. Bold from the moment the bottle is opened, with complex yet smooth flavors. It goes with almost any food as well. Great value for an outstanding wine.Add winemaker's notes

One of the great surprises I've found dining out.
I agree totally with Handron, it was great from the first taste to the last. Delicate yet bold.

Malbec Reserve 2009 - 91 points, Wine & Spirits/ Grown at 3,600 feet in Tunuyán, the fresh effect of the altitude is not enough to counteract the warmth of the vintage, which packs this malbec with black fruit flavors and sweet spice. Still, it sustains firm acidity, shaping the flavors and giving the wine exuberant depth. Open it now with a ribeye.
Deep purple, intense wine, with aromas of distinctive personality and varietal typicity, notably blackberries, and the floral scents of violets and vanilla. A sweet start of mouth, followed by an ample and intense feel in the mid palate, with a silky and rounded tannin texture. It stands out for its fruity character and the crispiness of its well-balanced acidity. A long and lingering finish, with the presence of sweet and fresh wooden flavors.Great year round malbec! Malbec Reserve 2009 - 90 points, Wine Enthusiast/ Smells ripe and friendly, sort of like a jelly doughnut. The palate is creamy, dense and balanced, with saturated berry and spice flavors. Very smooth and integrated overall, and while it’s definitely dark and ripe it’s also popping with freshness. A complete wine at every turn.
Malbec Reserve 2010 - 90 points, Wine Enthusiast/ Compact, concentrated and clean, with all its components in place. The bouquet is dark with charcoal, but bright with berry fruit aromas. The mouthfeel is comfortable and balanced, with sweet berry flavors offset by mild spice and proper oak. Soft tannins define the finish; a fine Malbec that doesn’t overdo it.
Hot Picks: Value Red/ Salentein's beautiful gravity-flow winery is symbolic of the winemaking renaissance in Argentina, and Mendoza is now regarded as one of the best growing regions in the world for quality and value. This Malbec offers deep, dark fruits with touches of vanilla, a medium-full body, and surprising depth.
/ Another producer in the highlands of Uco Valley, Salentein's wines are often impressive. This is a deep-hued red with concentrated oaky, damson flavours. Elegantly crafted.
