Poggio di Sotto Brunello di Mont 1999

Member Review by Bob Fyke:

Dried herbs, aromatic sandalwood, lavender, tea, and grilled meats, all enveloped in a dusty warm cherry aroma. There is a soft texture and richness to the nose. On the palate, roasted black cherry, more sandalwood and tea with Asian spices and a bit of milk chocolate. The palate has a roundness to it. Persistent and seamless with an integrated parade of complexity that doesn't let up. Complete balance of acid, tannin and fruit with a long aromatic finish.Really a stand out Brunello.

Poggio di Sotto is driven to show the beauty of the Sangiovese grape. This is a traditional estate and in a vintage such as 1999 you'll find that this regal grape, when in the right hands, ages marvelously. The ultimate representation of classical Brunello producers.

How Brunello used to be. Classic style. A decadent red, with leather, spices and ripe fruit. Full-bodied, very soft and polished, with a sexy, ripe and glorious finish. Voluptuous. Drink now through 2012. 1,080 cases made. (JS) Wine Spectator. A Sangiovese Grosso wine from Tuscany in Italy. 1997 Poggio di Sotto Brunello di Montalcino 750ml
