Pio Cesare Barbera Barbera d'Alba 2010
Pretty bouquet of violets with raspberry, clove, mint and licorice. It's pretty and feminine. Cherry, raspberry jam and light clove and mint. Finishes a tad sour. 88 pts. 12/8/12
Three and a half glasses
Leather and cherry on the nose. Bright violets in the mouth with medium acidity. Licorice, coffee bay leaf and cigar wrapper later on the mid palate and a sour cherry finish. White chocolate notes linger.
Ruby red in colour, accompanied by fairly intense aromas - berries, vanilla, spices. Additional herbs in flavor. Notable acids and medium tannins in a medium-bodied and vigorous structure. Moderately complex with nice and long finish. Pair this with "herbal stews". 78 points. Not fully worth its price.
nice as described!!

I like the intense berry and plum character with hints of new wood on the nose and palate. It's round and rich, with lots of fruit. This is a versatile and delicious red. Drink now. James Suckling. A Barbera wine from Piedmont in Italy. 2008 Pio Cesare Barbera d'Alba 750ml
Polished and dry, with a vanilla note complementing its cherry and black currant flavors. This is elegant, with a hint of tannins on the finish. Drink now through 2012.
This wine announces its modern intentions with polished opening notes of vanilla, caramel and coffee from aging in small French oak barrels. The intense palate shows cherry and boysenberry fruit which lead into a long, very complex finish. Will gain more complexity with a few years in the cellar but may be drunk now for the appeal of its youthful fruit.
Nice nose of berries, cherry, spice, and vanilla. Fruity on the palate, with a backbone of acidity. Pleasant finish with more berries.
Shows blueberry and floral aromas, with hints of sandalwood. Full-bodied, with cream and vanilla character. This is tight and solid - and just right now. Drink now.
The Barbera grapes grown in the Barolo area, give full structure, plummy and complex flavour, with spicy and ripefruit, blackberry aroma and a hint of toasted tobacco. It ages quite well.
